And so it begins...

The cold weather is here. I know it is just a taste of it, and soon it will be back to some nice fall weather...but the taste is enough for me to remember how much I dislike winter. Ugh!! We have been cooped up inside for the last two days and it is wearing on us all. I fear that this winter will be a long one...

Besides the cold weather, here are some of the things that we have been up to in the past couple weeks:

1. Last week Tuesday Owen and I made a trip to the ER. Right before I was about to bring him to daycare, he took a nice header off the couch and hit his head on a baby gate. He must have hit the metal piece just right and it gashed his head. He was quite the trooper. The doctor used dermabond (basically superglue) to close the gash. Thank you to my aunt Cathy who came and watched Adam so I didn't have to bring both boys to the ER :)

Here's Owen waiting for the doctor to come in with the Dermabond. See what I mean? Such a trooper :)

2. We also went to the doctor this week Monday to get Owen checked out because he had some wheezing going on with a bad cold he had gotten. Come to find out, he also has an ear infection.

3. Owen has gone pee on his potty chair a handful of times!!! The last few times that he has gone, he gets really excited and points to the cupboard where we keep the marshmallows. I know we have a long way to go with this, but it's been exciting to see him start to making this connection.

4. Adam is smiling and cooing a lot these days. We still have to work a bit to get the smiles out of him, but it is totally worth it! His smile is soooo precious!! Unfortunatley, I am having a difficult time getting a picture of it, but as soon as I do I will share.

5. Rob and I spent our first night away from Adam this past weekend. We had a wedding in Duluth, so we left Jordi and the boys with my parents. It was hard to leave him, but it was also nice to just have an evening to ourselves....and to have an uninterrupted night of sleep :)

6. We are excited for Halloween this year. We are going to be carving pumpkins this weekend and then taking Owen trick or treating on Sunday. Stay tuned for pictures to come...

Anyway, thanks for checking in on us :) Here are a few pictures from the last couple weeks, before the weather turned rainy, gross, and cold.

1 Month

Owen at 1 month:Adam at 1 month:
Last week Adam turned one month! I can't believe how quickly he is growing...where does the time go? Rob weighed him today on our home scale and he weighed in at 10lbs!! I figured he had to be close to that, since he is really starting to fill out his 0-3 month clothes. I went through my old photos and found Owen's one month picture. Do you see the resemblance? I really can see it in these two pictures, and yet they have some distinct differences. When I look back at Owen's infant pictures, I see that Owen has changed in looks A LOT! Here are some of the things that Adam is doing around one month:

Eating: I am continuing to nurse Adam. During the day he eats about every three hours. At night I typically get one four or five (sometimes six) hour stretch, and then about three - four hours until it is time to get up for the day.

Sleeping: He sleeps well at night. Naps are still touch and go...some days he takes great naps, and then other days I am lucky if he goes down for 30 minutes at a time. One thing that we have learned is that Adam NEEDS to be swaddled when he sleeps. We use a pacifier sometimes to help him go down, but other times he does not seem to need it.

Temperment: All in all, he has been a good little boy :) Lately, he seems to have some gas/tummy issues which is causing him to be fussy during his alert times. The good thing is that he is easily calmed by just being held, which I love. I love getting my cuddles and kisses in any time that I can! We are also trying Mylicon drops for his tummy...however, sometimes I think these are just a marketing scam to make mom's like me feel better :)

Other milestones: Adam seems to really like his tummy time. He has a very strong neck, and holds his head up while on his tummy for at least a minute. He also has become very clever, and will roll on his back when placed on his tummy. He also has pretty good head control for a one month old. There has been a handful of times where I swear that Adam has smiled or almost smiled in response to me smiling and talking to him. With each day that goes by, a little more of Adam's personality starts to shine through. Though I don't want him to grow up too fast, I can't help but wonder what he will be like in another month, six months, etc.
